This delicious Beef Tips and Gravy recipe is super easy to make! You just mix your ingredients in a casserole dish, cover with foil and bake ’til it’s finished!
If you are looking for an easy beef tips and gravy recipe, look no further! You have come to the right place as I’ve got a recipe for you that is quick, easy, and delicious! Three of my most favorite things!
When the weather gets colder (like we have been having on and off), I love to make nice and hearty meals that stick to your ribs a little bit! Adam works out in the oil field, so if it is cold all day, I want him to come home to a hearty and warm meal!
The weather here is on and off, one day it is warmer and the next it is cold. So on the cold days I take advantage of meals like this for him! Cooler days I always whip up lighter meals like a shrimp spring bowl!
This is a NO PEEK recipe, so once it goes in the oven, you just trust it is doing the right thing. You wrap the pan in aluminum foil and you don’t want to peek because all the steam will escape, and you need that to help keep your meat nice and tender!!
This is definitely one of the easiest ways to make beef tips and they turn out delicious baked in the oven with this method.
This recipe uses the shortcuts of an envelope of onion soup mix and a canned soup. If you want your recipe to be even more homemade, you can use homemade onion soup mix and homemade condensed cream of mushroom soup.
This version of the oven baked beef tips includes mushrooms, BUT if you’re not a mushroom-lover we have a simple change you can make. Rather than the cream of mushroom soup you can use cream of chicken soup, cream of celery soup or even Campbell’s Cream of Bacon soup. I haven’t tried that soup yet, but it sounds awesome!
We chose to pair this with mashed potatoes, but you can do egg noodles or even rice! I just prefer potatoes, but every now and again I will do egg noodles. I am not the biggest fan of rice, so I seldom do that.

Why to Add Ginger Ale to Gravy
We have been asked why there is ginger ale in this recipe. The first reason is that it can add a nice ginger flavor to the meat (especially if you use real ginger ale). The other is that the carbonation in soda works as a great tenderizer. Carbonized drinks can make beef turn out much more tender.

Making this again for my family tonight.. it was a huge hit and tasted amazing 🤩
Yay!! I’m so happy to hear that!
Why the ginger ale?
Ginger Ale can give meat a nice ginger flavor and the carbonization also helps to tenderize.
Instead of water or ginger ale, can you use beef broth? Also, how well would this recipe work in a slow cooker?
If you use beef broth as the liquid, you might want to either leave out the onion soup mix packet or else replace the packet with some minced dried onion instead. Otherwise with both the soup mix and the beef broth it could be too salty.
We haven’t tried it in a slow cooker, but if you do let us know how it turns out!
This is so easy and was a huge hit with my family. So, so good! I added the mushrooms. My grocer was out of the onion soup mix so went with beefy onion soup mix. I was worried it might be too salty but it was perfect!
I’m so glad to hear that you all loved it! That makes my day!
I have all the ingredients and I’m about to give it a try. I’m a single father and my son loves rice and gravy with beef. His mom was a great cook but she passed , so I will let you’ll know how it turns out.
I hope you and your son like it. My condolences on the passing of his mom.
Made this this evening. Very easy and a big hit. Although I served it with noodles, mashed potatoes would be delicious.
Thanks, Vickie! I’m glad it was a hit!
I made your receipt for my employees and let me tell you that it was a hit. Now they want me to make it all the time. Thank you for sharing this great recipe.
